About this event

The last few years have seen a number of challenges face our communities - 2019/2020 bushfires, COVID 19 and flooding in 2022. Come along to share stories and reconnect the threads that bind our communities, while learning the ancient art of weaving.

In these workshops you will weave your own circle using locally sourced, re-purposed materials. Materials will be provided, but please feel free to bring something from home that you might like to weave into your work or share with others, fabric, up-cycled clothing, old sheets, yarn all work perfectly! This event is about creating a piece of art for the community, by the community, so the more unique contributions we have, the more diverse our artwork will be.

After the workshops, the individual weavings will be joined together, creating a collaborative community artwork to be installed at the Eastern Dorrigo Hall with a celebration early next year. This artwork will visually demonstrate the diverse fabric of our communities - each piece being unique in its own way, coming together to form something even more beautiful.

Workshops are free and will be held over two Saturdays from 2-5pm on 3 & 10 December at Eastern Dorrigo Hall - register for your preferred date.

All welcome, no experience necessary.

Materials and afternoon tea will be provided. Age for these workshops is 12+. I will also be looking at running workshops for kids through the local schools.

This is a Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund project through the joint Commonwealth/State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements with support from Arts Mid North Coast.
